Pathways and Passions
A fascinating chat with Tim Racer, an old friend from Topeka broadcast days, who is an accomplished lawyer, and during Covid rediscovered an old passion, and penned the musical "Problematic Man", a baseball themed play that will debut at the KC Fringe festival next month. Raised in Belton, Mo., he studied law at Washburn, eventually finding his career path at the Kauffman Foundation. Sports, law broadcasting, and now playwright, a great conversation!
Down to Earth, and One of a Kind
We lost a one of a kind broadcasting legend last week when Bob Davis passed away at the age of 80. But tributes and great memories remain, and it's a pleasure to some to you here. A wonderful sit down we did a few years back filled with mriad anecdotes and great personalities, told by an unrivaled storyteller.
Following and Planting Footsteps
Brett Ballard’s Washburn U hoops team enjoyed the atmosphere more than the result in this week’s Allen Field House visit, but the Inchabods are picked first in the MIAA in this, Brett’s eight season. It’s a perfect time to revisit our Profile conversation from a couple years back chronicling his playing and coaching career, and amazing connections along the way.
Dedication, Opportunity, and Hall of Fame Mentors
Still just past his fortieth birthday, the Washburn basketball coach has already packed in a productive playing career, two high major assistant stints, and led two of his own programs. He played for one Hall of Fame coach, and coached for another. A great conversation.
